Decatur

One of Atlanta’s first suburbs, the city of Decatur is the county seat of DeKalb County and has long been a popular place to call home. Just a short drive from downtown Atlanta, Decatur has its own distinctive appeal. With a laid-back vibe, charming original homes, unique shops, excellent restaurants with outdoor patios and a city square teeming with activity, Decatur residents enjoy a walkable, close-knit outdoor lifestyle. Families love its highly ranked city school system, which is independent of DeKalb County Schools, and residents of all ages flock to local festivals like the Decatur Book Festival and Decatur Craft Beer Festival. The styles of homes vary greatly. You can still find many original 1920s bungalows; however newer homes have been built on older lots in recent years.
